ESTHER'S FOLLIES PRESENTS QUEERTOWN AUSTIN

They're here! They're Funny! Get used to it! This summer, Austin theatre goers will find a little pot of gold at the end of an extremely colorful rainbow. Queertown-the infamous sketch comedy and music revue that has taken Texas by storm-is setting up shop for a permanent monthly run at the legendary Esther's Follies Theatre in downtown Austin.

Queertown blends original social/political satire with improvisation and song to create a unique, hilarious perspective of gay life in the USA. The cabaret of characters finds themselves caught in a land that exists somewhere between Ellen, Kids in the Hall, and a bizarro gay pride parade. The audience is invited to embrace the more flamboyant side of "Gaybraham" Lincoln, see what cops REALLY DO when they're alone in their patrol cars, and experience the dancing Lucy Liu's.

Roth forum to focus on gay, lesbian issues

La Quinta resident David Roth, a Democratic candidate for the 45th Congressional District, will host a town meeting Sept. 18 in Palm Springs focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at The Desert Pride Center, 611 S. Palm Canyon Drive, in Suite 201 of The Sun Center.

Audience members are encouraged to ask Roth questions. Though the primary focus of the forum will be the LGBT community and its issues and concerns, others are welcome to attend and participate, Roth campaign officials said.

Information: 202-2828.

Roth will face incumbent Rep. Mary Bono, R-Palm Springs, in the Nov. 7 general election.
