Instead of just blowing the whole load in a weekend of parade festivities, a West Hollywood City Council task force is recommending that the community's gay pride celebration should be expanded into a month-long social and cultural event. Flaggy. Keeping with the suggestion, we think the entire month of June should simply be renamed June Likes Girls, So Get The F**k It Over It. While it may be wordy and a bit annoying for those who like to write out a month's name rather than use its numeric representation, we think it would drive our "We're Here, We're Queer" point home in ways far greater than any flag and float-filled parade could ever hope. So what do we think, world -- summer of '07 begins on June Likes Girls, So get the F**k Over It 21, 2007? We're thinking we're on to somethin'! It's unclear if any other areas of the country will follow WeHo's lead and consider expanding their own pride festivities.
Gay group criticises unholy alliance
A Scottish gay group has criticised an unholy alliance of critics towards the nine Glasgow fire-fighters who were reprimanded for snubbing a gay pride march last June, after the Archbishop of Glasgow and a BNP spokesperson defended the public servants.
The Equality Network spoke out against Archbishop Mario Conti and Glasgow BNP organiser Walter Hamilton questioning their dignity in regards to the case.
Nine members of the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue service were enrolled on a diversity training course last week after refusing to hand out standard fire safety leaflets at the Pride Scotia march in Glasgow last month, citing moral reasons.
Walter Hamilton of the Glasgow BNP argued that this was politically correct bullying and that the fire-fighters had refused to take part in the event on moral grounds.
Gay stabbing in Moscow
Four gay men in Moscow were stabbed by attackers in a home invasion on Wednesday night. A group of young men broke into the apartment, which is located in a mainly gay are of the city, and attacked its gay inhabitants. Two of the victims remain in serious but stable condition, while another is in a coma and the final is listed in grave condition according to a police spokesperson. The police also said the attack was a hate crime, but failed to determine whether or not the attackers were connected to other anti-gay groups in the city. The vicious attack immediately follows a Moscow courts decision on Tuesday that the city government did not act illegally when it banned a gay Pride parade in May. .
San Diego Teachers Blasted for Brining Kids to Gay Pride Event
(AgapePress) - Teachers at an elementary charter school in San Diego, California, are being condemned for bringing young children to participate in the city's "gay pride" parade last month. James Hartline, a former homosexual turned Christian activist, reports that teachers with the San Diego Cooperative Charter School brought children to the July 29 San Diego Pride Parade. A picture in the school newsletter shows several teachers and other individuals affiliated with the school marching in the parade. Hartline says the annual homosexual pride celebration in San Diego is "really just an advertisement for the triple-x gay pornography industry." Seeing children only six to twelve years old, walking with adults from the charter school in that parade was "just so heartbreaking," he says, because anyone who has never seen what these events are like "can just imagine the depravity that's in this parade." The Christian pro-family advocate finds it shocking and demoralizing that teachers or any other adults would bring innocent children around the goings on at the San Diego Pride event.
