San Diego Teachers Blasted for Brining Kids to Gay Pride Event

(AgapePress) - Teachers at an elementary charter school in San Diego, California, are being condemned for bringing young children to participate in the city's "gay pride" parade last month.

James Hartline, a former homosexual turned Christian activist, reports that teachers with the San Diego Cooperative Charter School brought children to the July 29 San Diego Pride Parade. A picture in the school newsletter shows several teachers and other individuals affiliated with the school marching in the parade.

Hartline says the annual homosexual pride celebration in San Diego is "really just an advertisement for the triple-x gay pornography industry." Seeing children only six to twelve years old, walking with adults from the charter school in that parade was "just so heartbreaking," he says, because anyone who has never seen what these events are like "can just imagine the depravity that's in this parade."

The Christian pro-family advocate finds it shocking and demoralizing that teachers or any other adults would bring innocent children around the goings on at the San Diego Pride event.

Cleric wades into gay pride row

The Catholic Archbishop of Glagow has controversially defended the nine firemen who have been disciplined for refusing to distribute fire safety leaflets at a gay pride event.

One officer was demoted, eight others were given warnings, and all were required to attend diversity training after they disobeyed orders to attend the Pride Scotia event in Glasgow. But Mario Conti, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Glasgow, issued a statement today saying that the disciplinary action was 'dismaying'.

Archbishop Conti said that 'the duty to obey one's conscience is a higher duty than that of obeying orders.'

While some of the firemen had said that they were refusing to give fire prevention advice at the event in June because they had religious objections, other refused to do so simply because they said it would be embarrassing.

Pride at Work Convention Ramps Up Call for Change

San Diego -- Nearly 200 members and allies of Pride at Work, AFL-CIO (PAW) met for its national convention this past weekend. In a pre-convention interview, PAW Executive Director Jeremy Bishop described the main purpose of this convention, titled No Turning Back in 2006, as both educational and a moment to relax before the election season struggles.

The convention was a time, Bishop remarked, for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) union members and their allies "to come together and just relax and recharge their batteries with people who understand the struggle and understand what they go through."

California State Assemblyperson John Laird (D-Monterey), one of six openly gay state assemblypersons, described PAW as an important bridge between labor and the LGBT communities.

Nine firemen rapped for refusal to give out leaflets at gay march

A SENIOR firefighter was demoted and eight of his colleagues were handed official warnings yesterday for disobeying orders and refusing to hand out safety leaflets at a gay pride march.

The nine officers from the Cowcaddens station in Glasgow were also ordered by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue (SFR) to undergo intensive "diversity training" as part of their punishment.
